Issue with recycling plastic

Recyclable labels on plastic make consumers feel good about their choices, but the truth is, most of that plastic ends up buried in a landfill or burned, not recycled.

Cardboard is not better

While cardboard has a higher recycling rate, its recycling processes still leave a substantial environmental footprint.

Most packaging waste is generated as soon as the product is removed from its box.

These boxes are designed to be used only once - examples include cardboard containers for online orders, fruit boxes for delivery from farms to supermarkets and Styrofoam boxes used by wholesalers to store fresh seafood.

Throughout the supply chain - from production to the end consumer - as a byproduct millions of tons of packaging waste are created every year.
